With 33 miles of graded mountain-bike trails, a bike park for honing technical skills, and countless miles of forest trails, Hamsterley Forest one of the best destinations in the North East for mountain biking. 

Hamsterley Forest boasts a huge range of way-marked walking trails making it is easy to get off the beaten track, go wildlife spotting and find natural tranquillity in the forest. 

Bring your own horse and explore the Forest together.  There are dedicated horse box parking areas and miles of specially way-marked bridleways to enjoy in the Forest.  Nearby horse-riding stables also offer trekking in the Forest and the Teesdale countryside.

The Forest is managed by the Forestry Commission, and there is bike hire centre together with a welcoming café by the main car park, serving a wide range of meals and tempting refreshments.
