Horse riding in Hamsterley ForestTeesdale is a perfect destination to enjoy with your own horse or at one of the riding and trekking centres in the dale.  Hamsterley Forest has miles of forest tracks and common land that is wonderful for exploring on horseback.

There is a wide network of bridleways including a section of disused railway line running between Barnard Castle and Middleton in Teesdale that is accessible with a horse.  For wide open countryside and big views explore the moorland where you can enjoy wildlife and bird spotting along with the grazing sheep.

Just on the outskirts of Hamsterley Forest West Hoppyland Trekking centre offers a variety of trekking experiences into Hamsterley Forest on a range of friendly ponies to suit all ages and abilities.

On the edge of Hamsterley Village, Hamsterley Riding School welcomes children from over the age of four years to come and enjoy lessons whilst trekking in the countryside on safe and calm ponies.
