SnipeNature lovers will delight in the natural bounty of Teesdale.  With many rare and distinctive species to spot around the year, the wild areas of Teesdale is a great place to visit and 'bag' some special sightings.

The visitor can witness fantastic displays by breeding birds including curlew, lapwing, red shank, golden plover and the very rare black grouse.  The landscape provides the perfect habitat for many rare arctic-alpine plants and during the summer season the wild flower hay meadows create a stunning patchwork in the fields.

Visitors can enjoy a wide range of nature activities, organised by The North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, from the visitor centre in Bowlees.  The Friends of the North Pennines organise the annual walking festival and activity programme that takes place at the end of September and early October.

Don't forget to bring your camera with you to take home beautiful pictures of wildlife spotted whilst on your trips.  We are always interested to see images of Teesdale and you can send them to our facebook or twitter pages.
