Snowy Teesdale LandscapeThe winter season in Teesdale allows the visitor to take advantage of great low season accommodation offers and enjoy the stunning beauty of the Teesdale landscape.  Properly equipped walking in Teesdale in the winter months allows you to take in the breath taking panoramic views.  The railway lines and tracks in Hamsterley Forest make great opportunities for winter mountain bike adventures.

The North Pennines are one of the areas in England with the highest annual snowfall.  With large swathes of open access land, Teesdale is great place to bring your own cross country skiing equipment and enjoy skiing over the wide open spaces and broad moorland.  For those who enjoy downhill skiing or snowboarding, in nearby Weardale and Allendale there are two downhill ski areas.  The ski clubs operate day passes for visitors to get access to the slopes and use of the ski lifts.
